Road Trips are Necessary..right?

Last weekend my friends and I woke up on a Saturday morning and randomly decided to go to OKC and to do some spur of the moment things. Here's what we did on our little day trip:
The first thing we did was head over to 24th Street Piercings and got our ears pierced.. Yes I know we were feeling very outrageous today. All of them got their cartridge pierced, but I ended up just getting a second hole next to my first one.
Here's how mine turned out-- I really love how small and simple it is.
While we were getting our piercings all done together, the guy (who was covered from head to toe in tattoos) said "well at least you aren't getting tattoos" haha we thought that was so funny. But yes at least we weren't being that crazy.

After our little piercing session, we headed over to "The Wedge Pizzeria." This place was awesome. It had a great view of downtown okc as well!

We started our meal out with the garlic cheesy bread. We were so hungry and finished it all. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of our pizza, but we ordered one plain cheese pizza and one with feta cheese, chicken, spinach, and mushrooms. They were both amazing. The crust is the perfect in between thin and regular crust.

And for dessert we had some fabulous dark chocolate chip gelato. They had so many different flavors but I had to go with my all time favorite.

We then roamed about the downtown area and found some interesting little places, like this record/cd store. My friends and I are big fans of classic rock (thanks dad) and so we picked up a few things. I called my dad immediately and started searching for some of his favorite CDs and was mostly successful! They were so inexpensive too (always a plus for a college girl)

While roaming around downtown we came across numerous yard sales/thrift stores. It was so cool to look around at all of the old fashion things! (My friend actually ended up buying a guitar that was in great condition that we played on the way home from the city!)

After our long day, we headed back to Stillwater, but not for long-- later that night me and two other friends headed to  good ole Ponca City to get some snacks!
I had heard all about the famous "Dixie Dog" we just had to try it. We got a Dixie dogs and shared some pickle-os, Mac and cheese bites, and cheesy potato bites with the girls (we're in college right?!) it was so good!! We decided we were going to have to make another trip soon!

I don't know if you can really see me ok this picture, but i had to climb up and take a picture with this statue! This is the Pioneer Woman statue in Ponca!

This weekend is a long weekend for Labor Day and I'm hoping to get some more blogging time in, so check back later!

Life update

Hiiiii! I hope everybody had a good Monday & a good first day back at school for all you college kids! Here's a little bit of what's been going on for me lately:

Some of my sweet friends and I! This last two weeks have been packed but we finally finished with recruitment and got some awesome baby thetas!

Here we all are waiting for our new pledge class to run to us!

One of the sweet new thetas that I got to hang out with! We now have this confetti still covering our front lawn (sorry gardners)
Not really something that huge in life--but it was big for me! I finally purchased the Naked 2 palette. I have been saying for at least a year now how much I wanted this palette and how much I would use it. Soooo I finally did it!
I started back at our gym at my college.. I'm trying to get back on a good workout routine I had before. As much as I dread going to the gym sometimes I always feel so much better when I do.  Side note: I got this new workout shirt and was so excited to wear it. Gap has SUCH awesome workout appeal! I'll probably do another blog about some of my favs.

And last but not least-- this last Sunday I decided to become a Switch leader at my church in Stillwater! Switch leaders are basically small group leaders that help teach bible studies with middle school and high school aged teens! I will most likely be paired with 8th grade girls and I will attend the worship services with them every Wednesday night and do small bible studies/lessons.  I am SO excited.  I have never really worked with middle school-aged teens before (I'm more used to like 1-5 year olds..lol), but I feel like it will be a good challenge for me to take part in!

I feel like it is going to be a great school year!
Your overly happy-go-lucky blogger,

So much love for you, Theta

It's crazy to think it has been one whole year since I choose Kappa Alpha Theta to be my new home.  These last two weeks have made me fall in love with my sorority all over again.  I can see how much I've been changed for the better by being apart of such a wonderful sisterhood.  These girls have always lifted me up and encouraged me to be a better woman.  Seeing how amazing all of the girls are in our chapter makes me want to strive to be the best version of myself whether that is through working hard in my classes or creating a stronger relationship with the Lord.

I know I was placed in this chapter for a reason.  It was all in God's plan for me to meet such incredible women.  And I cannot thank Him enough.
Throughout this week I was asked "Why did you choose Theta?" about one hundred times I was asked and I answered back one hundred times that this was my favorite question to answer.
I choose Theta because I saw through the conversations I had with the girls what genuine people they really are.  I saw true character in every one of them--not just a "sweet girl" I talked to.  I walked in the house feeling at ease and comfortable.  And most of all, I felt like a person they actually cared about.  They wanted to get to know me, they wanted to know my true passions and my beliefs. Theta was the only house I felt comfortable talking about my faith, which is one of the most important things to me in my entire life.

And I just KNEW this was the place I wanted to spend my next 3 years.  And wow.  What a year it has been with these girls.  Now that I am actually living in the house I am so very excited for what this next year has in store for me.  As one of the senior Thetas said in her farewell speech, "I think there is something that should be said for a place that you hate to say goodbye to and anxiously await to get back to.."

So here's to two more years Kappa Alpha Theta.
Your ever so sappy Theta lover,

Tea Time

As dramatic as this picture looks and sounds right now, I could really go for some relaxing hot tea and a good book.  As I have mentioned before, I had been going through work week for my sorority and now we are in the middle of actual sorority recruitment.  Talk about losing your voice and your mind and stressing out.  Something that has really kept me going is tea.  Like I'm a crazed fan now.  This last week when I went to Whole Foods I bought some new types of tea that I have actually finished all by now.  But, I took some pictures to give you guys some good suggestions on hot and cold teas!

Hot teas--

My mΘm (aka my big Claire) let me try her Yogi Green Tea Blueberry Slim Life and I can say this was my favorite hot tea. It smells and tastes just like blueberries with a hint of green tea. It is for weightloss I believe, and it would actually take the place of maybe I snack/I'd probably like to kick start my day with it and a healthy breakfast.

Here is the other green tea I tried and it is the Orange Passionfruit Jasmine. So I thought this tea was okay overall, but not my favorite.

Not pictured-- but I also bought a Lipton cranberry hot tea and it was good too! I liked it better than the Orange Passionfruit  Jasmine. I really like the fruitier teas as you can tell..

Cold tea:
First and for most I'd say my favorite tea overall is the Green Tea from Panera. Wowww it is perfect-- not too sweet but not not sweet (hope that made sense) now that I have a panera down the street, I go there too often!

My other favorite cold tea would be from Starbucks and that would be the new summer flavors of green tea (Shakened Peach Green Tea & some other Black Green Tea) buttttt if you do go to Starbucks I suggest you try this: ask for a "very berry hibiscus and valencia orange refresher with no water" (wow by far the best thing there fruity wise) I get this nonstop.

Back to my Whole Foods teas:

Okay so this Steaz brand is amazing!! I got these three different teas from Whole Foods and finished them all in less than two days. My favorite of the 3 was the first one- the lightly sweetened blueberry pomegranate one! Maybe I'm just a blueberry fanatic, but it was so good. The peach and raspberry were tasty too! I think I might try ordering these in bulk online because then closest Whole Foods or health food store is in Oklahoma City (which is an hour away).

Your ever so sleepy tea fan,

Just another post

It sure has been a busy week, but thankfully my friends and I got to have a quick break from our work week and went shoppping in OKC! Here's a little update on what I've been doing this past week and what I bought in OKC:
On one of the days during our work week, we had Josh's Sno Cone Shack come by to our house! I had never had their Sno cones before (because they are mostly just in the Tulsa area) and wow they were so good! The one I had was called "Center of the Universe" it was coconut, blue raspberry, and pomegranate. Was so tasty and refreshing in our hot Oklahoma weather.

If you haven't been to GiGi's Cupcakes in Norman you are def missing out. The one I had shown above was Reece's cupcake with peanut butter icing and chocolate cupcake. I actually got to go here on our day off too and I was in heaven for 5 seconds (I finished it that fast it felt like)
My first experience at Whole Foods. Walking in and seeing these beautiful flowers was just perfect. I'll update you on my purchases at Whole Foods in another post. (Expect tea, tea, and more tea)

Look at this beautyyyyyy! While in okc, we stopped by for a bite to eat at City Bites. I had a tasty ham melt and this birthday cookie. It was so moist that I couldn't even pick it up without it falling all over the place. It tasted like a light sour creamish frosting and of course topped with fun birthday sprinkles. A must try place while in the city if you're looking for a light lunch!
Last but not least-- while we were at the mall, I discovered Lush. I fell in love. It's such an organic place with handmade soaps, face masks, shampoos, etc. Above is the shampoo BAR yes you read that right.. A shampoo bar. It's a lavender neurtralizing shampoo that really cleans all of the extra oils from your hair. I was skeptical about using it at first, but I tried it last night and I loved it. It lathers up like a shampoo as well so you can give it a good scrub into your scalp. I def recommend this product.

Okay, so I bought one other thng at Lush while I was there-- this is the Mint Julips lip scrub. You get a small amount on your finger, moisten your lips, and rub on the scrub. Since it is an all natural product, you can actually lick it all off as well. It takes all of the dead skin and other yucky stuff that can collect on your lips and leaves them feeling SO soft. I think put my fav lip balm on (Vaseline coco butter that I mentioned in my favorites post)

Your newest Lush fan,
